Cairns Connections

Hey there fellow ITSC-ers!  The four person strong Trinity Bay contingent from Cairns has infiltrated this session (hope we are welcome?!) because we are keen to sink our teeth in to some more hands on technology after some heavy (but worthwhile!) Leadership sessions.

We enjoyed ourselves last night doodling at the State Library and then headed out in a cab to the Dendy at Portside to view the new Australian film "Samson and Delilah".  Thanks so much to Anna for funding the cab fare and movie tickets courtesy of the corporate card.....nice to know that despite her hard line last week she's still willing to cough up for quality teacher PD!

BTW...the film is an amazing mix of confronting imagery set in a remote indigenous community beautifully acted by 2 untrained indigenous actors.........funny, emotionally draining, culturally confronting......amazing cinematography of outback Australian landscape!  Favourite scene was the young female lead sitting with her actual living grandmother painting on the ground.....most confronting scene is the desperation expressed by the young Samson as he sits under a bridge on the fringe of the nearest big township with a blanket over his head listening to the sound of the traffic travelling on the bridge above totally unaware of his life and his reality below.....
