The Scene of the Crime....

OK...ITSC conference dinner people....here is the scene of the crime....Note the sincerity and artistic effort that Dan put in to his Doodle....!!  We will be investigating further....(PS: this is uploaded from my new Flip Video that I Love and think is a wonderful resource for classes........)
nice photo first thing in the morning after 8 hours of pd yesterday DEFINITELY LOOKING MY BEST!!!!

Dual FormatConfidence

I work in a PC equipped school. I have my Macbook Pro in class and an old Macbook which the kids love. They are operating comfortably across platforms. I want this to continue as both formats have their strengths. I want kids to be comfortable with as many formats as possible.

Claymation

It took us an hour an a half to make this piece of rubbish, but we learnt something and had a laugh!

Playing around

This was day two of owning my mac, just had a play with photobooth with my son.  This is the cartoon effect.

Sunday mornings!

feeling a little woosy :)
Not much to say at the moment.

ITSC INSPIRATION

Yesterday we touched on a lot of new challenges. Due to time we didn't finish the end projects. More inservice on individual tasks would be great so that we could go away and teach this confidently without any help.

What a Wonderful Day

I thought yesterday was very useful and I learnt many things that were new to me eg using imovies, iphoto, claymation, podcasting.... Lunch was fantastic and morning and afternoon tea were to die for! The day was topped off by a stunning performance of Lost in Space by two QACI students.

Then I went home, had some dinner and watched an exciting episode of Daziel and Pascoe which had me hooked until I figured out "who dunnit" just before the end.
Before going to bed at about 2:30am I worked on my university assignment.
Life is never dull !

ITSC WORKSHOP

A day full of ideas, implementation but so much further to go in learning and exploration.

I need to spend some time exploring with PhotoBooth!

Digital Literacy Workshop

Other Schools

It's always interesting to talk with teachers from other schools. We become very insulated in our own schools!

Cool tool of the day

Has anyone checked out Wolfram Alpha yet?

I thought the food last night was fantastic .  My personal favourites were the money bags with prawn and chives as well as the duck and orange.  What were your favourites?

ITSC conference

Hi from the 6th floor

The future of teaching

Lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Who vandalised my doodle?

I know you're out there, and I'm tracking you down......

ITSC has been stimulating in that I have realised how little I actually make a genuine effort to integrate ITCs in my curriculum. Whilst I naturally use software tools like Final Cut in my FTV curriculum, I could be making much more effort to engage with online technologies across my teaching. I have dabbled with wikis and blogging and using social networking for my classes, but never maintained the momentum or energy. I resolve now to address this!

But perhaps the presence of walls in my school will be too great a stumbling block....

Interested to see the possibilities of all these new programs and ones I already know. Hopefully my students and I will have some new learning experiences after this conference.

I have found a solution for creating quick videos for the kids to create content for FinalCutXpress

itsc Sunday blog

It was interesting to hear how podcasts were being used to market a school's activities. The issues of copyright and privacy would seem to indicate that schools would have to have someone who monitors the material (photos, activities, etc) rigorously.

Cairns Connections

Hey there fellow ITSC-ers!  The four person strong Trinity Bay contingent from Cairns has infiltrated this session (hope we are welcome?!) because we are keen to sink our teeth in to some more hands on technology after some heavy (but worthwhile!) Leadership sessions.

We enjoyed ourselves last night doodling at the State Library and then headed out in a cab to the Dendy at Portside to view the new Australian film "Samson and Delilah".  Thanks so much to Anna for funding the cab fare and movie tickets courtesy of the corporate card.....nice to know that despite her hard line last week she's still willing to cough up for quality teacher PD!

BTW...the film is an amazing mix of confronting imagery set in a remote indigenous community beautifully acted by 2 untrained indigenous actors.........funny, emotionally draining, culturally confronting......amazing cinematography of outback Australian landscape!  Favourite scene was the young female lead sitting with her actual living grandmother painting on the ground.....most confronting scene is the desperation expressed by the young Samson as he sits under a bridge on the fringe of the nearest big township with a blanket over his head listening to the sound of the traffic travelling on the bridge above totally unaware of his life and his reality below.....
Fabulous ideas for integrating podcasts - XYZ

Claymation

The Claymation workshop was very good. I now have my Art lessons sorted for the rest of term.

Friday, May 22, 2009

Well the day flies here in the North. I have found the language hard, unusual, off putting - but then I remembered I was not in Kansas anymore!

My thought drifted...... I wonder where Wally Lewis lives? Will I see him?

Back to ITSC....that one statement:

"we meet to work not to talk.."

How many staff meetings have I been too? Too many!

ITSC09 Are you inspired?

ITSC 09   Wow!

So many talented people and so many creative ideas all in one location! How will I remember all of those brilliant ideas to take back to schools. What about the  great ideas from all the other strands ?

An easy solution is to put them all up on a blog. Wouldn't it be great to share all our inspirations?

ITSC Inspiration blog is a place you could practice your blogging and share your new ideas!
